RESULTS MAY 22: CONGREGATIONS VOTING TO LEAVE THE ELCA

1. SHILOH LUTHERAN CHURCH, HICKORY, NC passed first vote to leave the ELCA (second attempt) 51-16. Intend to join NALC.

2. FRON LUTHERAN CHURCH, STARBUCK, MN failed to pass first vote to leave the ELCA, 100-59.

3. ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, CLARKSVILLE, IA failed to pass first vote, 73-42.

4. AMERICAN LUTHERAN CHURCH, GOTHENBURG, NE failed to pass first vote. A new Lutheran Mission Congregation is being organized, with first service set for Sunday May 29.
Vote was reported to be 333 stay, 88 to leave.

5. IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, ROCKWELL, NC passed first vote to leave the ELCA, 126-5.

6. TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, CARRINGTON, ND passed second vote to leave the ELCA, 161-16.

7. ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, WESTBORO, MO passed second vote to leave the ELCA and voted to join the NALC and LCMC 90-2.

8. ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, DANFORTH, IL passed second vote to leave the ELCA, 80-17 and voted to join NALC 78-6.

9. ST. ANDREW BY THE SEA LUTHERAN CHURCH, ATLANTIC CITY, NJ passed second vote to leave the ELCA and join the NALC by 98%.

10. ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, WATERTOWN, WI passed second vote to leave the ELCA and join NALC.

11. ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, BRENHAM, TX failed to pass first vote to leave the ELCA, with only 25% voting in favor of leaving.

12. BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, SANTA MARIA, CA passed second vote to leave the ELCA.

13. MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, LEBANON, PA passed first vote to leave the ELCA, 78-1.

  1. I think fairness dictates reporting the vote totals from American Lutheran Church in Gothernburg. Your readers may be interested to know that 333 voted to stay in the ELCA, while 88 voted to leave.
