FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN NO LONGER PART OF THE ELCA

This story has been verified from two reliable sources: First Lutheran Church, White Bear Lake, MN, baptized membership 1398, is no longer part of the ELCA. The congregation had voted to join the LCMC with the knowledge and approval of the bishop of the St. Paul Area Synod. However, dual membership in both the ELCA and LCMC became a problem and the congregation was dismissed from the ELCA about three weeks ago.

  1. Curious that it "became a problem." Is it not yet becoming a problem in Eau Claire, WI??

  2. Another problem with dual membership in the LCMC and ELCA: "What fellowship has light with darkness?"

  3. Very much appreciate the report here from Pastor Barnhart; As a Minneapolis/St. Paul area resident for several decades, I saw this one coming. First Lutheran in White Bear Lake has been locked into Confessional Lutheranism for as long as I can remember, as well as the WordAlone Network brand of Theology! I take pride in my long Association with First Lutheran including both membership at different times; Singing with it's Choral Music program, & Laying to Eternal Rest both of my Parents with Clergy from 1st Lutheran...Soli Deo Gloria!

  4. How can one serve two masters

  5. There is only one master--Jesus Christ. The E"L"CA forgot that a long time ago. Don't worry about being kicked out. You're serving the RIGHT master.

  6. Sorry, sources are incorrect. While this is likely happening soon, it has not happened yet. The timing is incorrect in this story while the end result will eventually be as reported.
